Well-known legal publication Law360 ranked our Honey Badger opinion in its Top 10 trademark rulings of 2018 in the United States, coming in at number five nationally, and ranking as the most significant trademark ruling in all of the Ninth Circuit for 2018. Law360 noted the Honey Badger ruling was “a rare success for a trademark case over an expressive work.”
Honey Badger Goes to Court
Krane & Smith scored a significant legal victory for Christopher Gordon, the creator of the famous honey badger video posted on YouTube, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.The Ninth Circuit, in a 25-page, unanimous, published decision, reversed the lower court’s decision to toss out Gordon’s case against two greeting card companies which sold cards trading off the popularity of Gordon’s famous honey badger catchphrases, “Honey Badger Don’t Care!” and “Honey Badger Don’t Give a Sh**!” Many newspapers and publications have discussed the big legal win, including The Washington Post and The Recorder.
